19040
(Forage Sorghum)

19040 Medium Maturity soft dough sorghum silage.  At 6-7 ft, it stands well past harvest maturity (or 65-70% moisture).  These new genetics increase forage, grain yield, silage quality, disease resistance, and standability.  Increased kernel size allows for better processing at harvest.  This hybrid has outstanding leaf retention compared to corn and most sorghum hybrids.  Drought tolerance and grain fill are the best we've seen.  Reaching the soft dough stage at 110-115 days.  For multiple cutting baleage, cut in the boot stage at 70-80 days.  Yields from 25-30 tons of silage have been made with 19040.  Lab tests show excellent sugar and starch levels, protein, NDFD 30 and IVTD.  The leafy short plant structure creates a canopy excellent for reducing weed pressure and conserving moisture during grain fill.
