GW-400 BMR MS JS
(Sorgo Sorghum X Sorghum)

GW-400 BMR is a medium-early maturity sterile hybrid forage sorghum with the BMR 6 trait. It is a sweet sorgo type that can reach 18-21% soluble sugar content in the early heading stage. Yields from testing have indicated 18-25 tons at 65% DM. This hybrid can produce more milk or beef gains than any conventional hybrid like it because it is (BMR 6) reduced lignin, which improves the overall digestibility substantially. With this improvement in digestibility and palatability, GW-400 BMR enables milk and beef production comparable to corn silage. This hybrid is well suited for dryland or irrigated conditions. The water requirements and inputs are 1/3 less than would be required to produce the equivalent amount of corn. GW-400 BMR is a sterile hybrid producing sweeter stalks, 8-10% protein, and excellent TDN, IVTD, NDFD %. This hybrid is good for silage, balage, or hay. When planted for hay we recommend a slightly higher planting rate with a drill for finer stems which dry down faster and cattle prefer. We recommend our non BMR hybrid GW-2120 if you plan to leave it standing in the field late into the season and graze it.
