Sweet Six BMR Dry Stalk
(Sorgo Sorghum-Sudangrass)

This hybrid is very quick growing, dry stalk and high yielding -- trial data indicates yields that beat what some refer to as the standard conventional hybrid. Sweet Six has been at the top 5% of several years of yield trials across the US. The higher leaf to stem ratio ensures a quality of grazing or feed that cattle prefer. Digestibility of this hybrid is increased by 20% due to the reduction in lignin. This reduction of lignin improves the digestibility of fiber. Sweet Six has shown tremendous scores for NDFD, TDN and IVTD. Including yield and harvestability that exceeds the competitions BMR's and conventional hybrids. With the dry stalk trait, harvest delays related to drying can be avoided. This hybrid is best utilized for 1-3 cuttings or rotational grazing. View the picture slide show below to see how the Sweet Six stem size compares to sudan x sudan hybrids. This hybrid is more economical to plant and has better early season vigor. The root system is 30% greater than many hybrids that we've analyzed. Which makes it a good option to grow as a forage or a cover crop option seeded in late July.

Additional Characteristics:
  • Dry stalk trait - faster dry down harvest
  • Fine stems which are sweet and highly palatable
  • Multi cut grassy hybrid
  • Excellent double or single crop hybrid
  • Anthracnose & Downy Mildew resistance
  • Good NDFD IVTD TDN percentages
  • Increased protein content
  • Dryland in the eastern US and irrigated in the western US
  • Growth vigor - excellent
  • First cutting 40-50 days
  • Second cutting 25-30 days
  • Third cutting 25-30 days
  • Swath / Mow it down at 40-50 inches or in the flag leaf / boot stage
